Growing up in Chicago, made it possible for her to learn from some of the most talented artists in the industry. Influenced by hometown heroes DJ Heather, Justin Long, and Derrick Carter, her styles are an eclectic blend of ever changing sounds within House and Techno. Chicago's young queen of jack discovered her drive for music at a young age. Alena's mother studied music theory at the Conservatory of Music in Russia, and was an accomplished pianist. Her granduncle was a violinist in the Russian Symphony, and also a very big influence on Alena and her musical upbringing. Alena's journey with music began in Kiev, Ukraine where she was born and raised until she was 8 years old. She began studying piano, and singing at the young age of 4 and continued her studies through out her childhood. Alena's family relocated to Chicago in 1988, not yet knowing this would be the greatest influence on her life. Like many young kids at the time, Alena was introduced to dance music through the Chicago radio waves. Legendary house DJ's were regulars on the radio and brought what was then a new and underground sound to the ears of Chicago. Alena's first involvement in the Chicago House scene was as a promoter. At the age of 19 she began throwing shows at her University nightclub called Orchid, and helping promote shows for rave and club promoters around Chicago. In 2000 she took it one step further and got her first pair of decks. Within months, Alena scored her first monthly residency at Orchid, opening for DJ's such as Colette, Justin Long, and DJ Dayhota in front of crowds of 500+ people. After her two year journey in Champaign, Alena moved back to Chicago to further pursue her DJ career, and hasn't looked back since. In 2003 Alena made a jump into production, and released her first track on Igloo Recordings. Since then she has released tracks as well as remixes on labels such as Greenhouse, D'Lectable, and Smart Bar - Area DJ Records. When she's not touring globally, Alena can be found as a regular at Justin Long's infamous .Dotbleep night at Smart Bar where she has been a rotating resident since the start of the night in 2001.
