Music 101 has made an impactual statement once again by bringing forth House music in its purest form. A joint effort from producer Stacy Kidd and guitarist Bryan Ford, "Lake Street" displays a combination of groove and instrumentation well above par in comparison to any release in its vein. A visceral approach to smoothed-out, soothed-out jazzy House, "Lake Street" is an intimate deliverance well-suited for dancefloor appeasement.

Side A presents the original version of "Lake Street". Traditional House with sensations of nostalgic jazz and disco, the first cut encapsulates the warehouse vibe with a solemn tempo and uplifting solo. The tandem effort stands well as a combination of groove-latent stylings. Side B.1 "Lake Street" (Instrumental) is also reminiscent of Chicago's true deep House roots. This version serves as a perfectly textured mix focused solely on the strings.

Stacy Kidd began his DJ career in the early '90s and soon thereafter made a stance among House producers in his workings with Paul Johnson. Citing Steve "Silk" Hurley as one of his musical sources, Kidd's work is similar in form and style. Relatively unknown, but blessed with noteworthy talents, Bryan Ford masterfully accompanies the track on guitar.

Music 101, has bestowed upon the aficionados of Chicago House another single worthy of selection. In a growing number of well-produced single releases this effort resounds quality. Already having made a statement early on, "Lake Street" solidifies Music 101's position as a breeding ground for innovators and noteworthy creators.

Spiritualized. Harmonized. Instrumentalized. Both versions are well-suited for any moment throughout the course of a DJs set. Or the perfect sonic silhouette to an evening of easy listening. In either case, "Lake Street" is a musical avenue worthy of traveling down.

Number 006 in its catalog of releases, "Lake Street" will be available Winter 2002 through online order and in stores.
