Into You (M101-008)
Unearthing another local gem in Kenny Carvajal, Music-101 continues to mine only the finest in House producing talents. "Into You" is the latest recording to further refine the foundations of Chicago's dance-music redevelopments. With the solid sophomore effort "Into You", and its' B-Side remix "Collide", Music 101's Kenny Carvajal projects a sanctity of seamless sounds. Notorious for his well-developed production skill, both efforts only purport his claim as the latest and greatest to redesign the foundations of Chicago House. Following up to his collaboration with vocalist John Redmond, Carvajal takes the opportunity to showcase his adept production talents "solo" with an offering low on samples and latent with organic instrumentation. "Into You" appropriates a calmly layered intro with a solemnly progressive bass and sax arrangement. Showcasing the full capabilities of the aforementioned instruments, the relationship between the bass and sax conjoin to carry the uplifting pace of the groove. And, to enhance the mood, Carvajal blends just enough keyboard and vocal influence to texture the track. With a bottom-end bpm the song moves with the rapid alternation of bass and sax scales. Invariably a set-starter, or closer, "Into You" is guaranteed to permeate your senses and leave a lasting impression. B-Side remix "Collide" brings together a similar compression of elements with a more apparent influence of percussion. Number eight in the catalog of releases, Music 101, has bestowed upon the aficionados of Chicago House a single necessary for any collection. In a swell of well-produced single releases this offering resounds quality above the quantity of competing pressings. Already having made a statement with each release in its' catalog, "Into You" solidifies the label's position in showcasing the work of innovators and noteworthy creators. |
